I admit that it seems a heavy sum to pay a camera without meteorological sealing and a dated tiny viewfinder. But as a person who reviews the cameras day after day, I think that Fujifilm X -E5 represents a fairly good value for money – at least on paper.
I have not yet got my hands on a Fujifilm X-E5 revision sample (this happens, however, so stay listening for a thorough exam here very soon), but even by far, it is clear that this camera is more expensive than the X-E4 for very justifiable reasons. First, the specifications and features offered in the new Fujifilm camera far exceed those of the X-E4. To choose the two most obvious upgrades: the X-E5 is built around a 40.2 MP lighting sensor of 40.2 MP CMOS 5 HR which offers almost double the resolution of the 26.1 MP of the X-E4 sensor; And it is now delivered with the stabilization of the five -axis sensor shift image in the body (ibis).

I would also say that the tiny viewfinder could really have used an update. Incredibly, it seems in fact to be the same point one of 0.39 inch and 2.36 million as we can see on the very first camera in the XX series, the Fujifilm X-E1, which launched 13 years ago. It’s functional, yes – but as a photographer who prefers the composition of photos with my hurry against a viewfinder rather than looking at a screen, plus the largest viewfinder, the viewfinder, the better.
The LCD screen also seems to be a demotion of other recent models – it is a 1.04 m point unit rather than 1.84 m point used by the X -T50 and the X100VI.
When you talk about the price of the X-E5, especially in the United States, we must also recognize the impact of the Trump administration prices, which has led to a situation where non-American manufacturers will naturally increase prices on their products. It is not a secret for anyone that the X-E5 costs $ 200 more than it would have done otherwise.
Even by putting aside this pricing confusion, inflation has also bitten hard since 2021 – so it is not really surprising to see the X -E5 at this way.
Finally, it seems that Fujifilm is ready to keep the X-E4 in its current range of the X series, if you can find it in stock, which means that the company always gives the consumer the possibility of collecting a camera without affordable telemeter style mirror if that’s what it needs. Although the X-E4 is certainly not without its drawbacks, it is always a very usable interchangeable lens camera.
