After the night, he fell on the outskirts of Los Angeles on Thursday, around fifty people learned metallic pots and air horns outside a hotel in a noisy manifestation of bedtime targeting American immigration agents.

The rally “No Sleep for Ice” underlined an increasing anger against immigration and customs application (ICE), a formerly obscure agency which has become the focal point of the repression of the migrants of President Donald Trump.

“They terrorize our community all day. Why are they sleeping a good night?” said Nathanael Landaverde, 23, who struck a pan dismantled to the demonstration.

Dramatic images have shown federal agents, often masked and sometimes armed with assault rifles, to hunt migrants and handcuff them in courthouses, farms and on the streets.

Ice managers also arrested American citizens for pretending to prohibit arrests, including a town hall candidate in New York this week.

The heavy approach has aroused the fear of immigrants and made many Americans furious, especially in liberal cities like Los Angeles, where large-scale street demonstrations broke out this month during ice raids.

“If they do not sleep, they will not do their job effectively. They will get fewer people,” added Landaverde, while the vehicles that passed klaxonnate with apparent support for the end of the evening gathering.

It was not sure that ice agents stayed at the three -star hotel, but the protest organizers said they had proof.

Dozens of people have danced in a deafening cacophony as they wave panels reading “No Rest For Ice” and “Ice Out of” towards the hotel, where some customers looked through the curtains.

A woman just shouted in a megaphone. Another man wore ear cache by exploding the deformed white noise through a speaker.

“They tear the families, and it’s horrible to look in my community. They cannot sleep if they will do that here,” said Juliet Austin, 22, who played a little blue accordion.

‘Secret police’

Trump was elected to a second term largely for his promise to deport thousands of migrants.

But in parallel with their aggressive tactics, criticisms have denounced federal immigration agents to wear facial masks to hide their identity – a very unusual but legal practice in the application of American laws.

“When will we meet as a nation with a secret police?” Walter Olson, a principal researcher at the Cato Institute reflection group, wrote last month.

“For the Trump administration, transforming masked raids into standard practice is part of a broader effort to dodge the responsibility of potentially illegal and unconstitutional actions,” he added.

In California, legislators have introduced the “Secret Police Act” which would prevent federal agents from carrying masks.

Federal officials rejected this criticism by affirming that the agents carry masks to protect them from potential reprisals.

Meanwhile, Ice has often boasted of its activities and has published photos of migrants detained on social networks.

And he benefits from his support from Trump, who congratulated last weekend congratulated “the incredible strength, determination and courage of ice agents”.

However, anger against ice seems unlikely to disappear as long as immigration arrests continue, and demonstrators on Thursday were categorical that they would not back down.

“I think it’s a modern Gestapo here in America,” said Austin, dance teacher.

“This city is not the one to disturb … We are not going to let it happen. We are not tired,” she added.
