The corridor without signaling takes shape in Pindi

Rawalpindi:

Nawaz Sharif Flyover by Khawaja Corporation on Adiala Road, as well as two sub-spassers on Mall Road and an underground pedestrian gateway, entered its last phase of completion. These projects should be inaugurated later this month.

In addition, the construction of an overview and elevators of the occupied Kachehri Chowk, as well as passages below the Qasim market, during the race and in Charing Cross, should begin soon – probably during the summer vacation period during the educational institutions, in order to accelerate completion.

Having been built at the cost of RS2.3 billion, the overview of Nawaz Sharif in Khawaja Corporation Chowk on Adiala Road is at its last stage. Although the project cannot be inaugurated on June 3 as planned initially, it should now be inaugurated by the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, on June 30.

The same day, it is also likely to inaugurate two lower passages on Mall Road – at the Flashman Hotel Chowk and Mall Plaza Chowk – as well as the underground pedestrian bridge near AFIC. This project should also be completed by June 30, with a total cost of RS4.388B.

Meanwhile, a decision was made to build additional underground passages in three of the most popular intersections of Mall Road and Peshawar Road: Qasim Market, Race Race Chowk and Charing Cross.

The Browalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has been responsible for moving underground public services – electricity, gas, water supply and sewers – from these locations to facilitate construction.

In addition, a major project involving the reshaping and expansion of Kachehri Chowk has been approved.

This project includes the construction of two overflights and three lower passages, with an estimated cost of RS8.5b. The Punjab government has already allocated the funds for this project.

According to sources, after the completion of the two overflights and three passages lower than Kachehri Chowk, and with the construction of five sub-scassors on Mall Road and Peshawar Road, all this route will actually become a corridor without signaling to the Chowk motorway.

It should be noted that an underground passage in Golra Mor has already been completed and is operational. The Punjab government is funding all these infrastructure projects, which are executed by the Provincial Communications and Works Department (C&W).

Schools get an operational boost

The Punjab Department of Education has published an amount of 464.5 million rupees for operational expenses of all public schools in the Rawalpindi division.

An amount of 4.58715 billion rupees was published for the fourth and last quarter of the outgoing financial year to cover operational expenses and public service bills for the 43,000 public, high, high and higher schools in the province.
