Polio detected in samples of seven districts

Islamabad:

The health authorities have made progress in monitoring the polio virus, withdrawing wastewater samples from nine districts. Among these, seven districts were tested positive for type 1 poliovirus, including Gwadar, Quetta, South Waziristan, Rawalpindi, Larkana and Mirpurkhas.

However, samples of Pishin and Lahore were declared without polio.

A total of 45 million children had been vaccinated in three national polio campaigns, with more than 400,000 polio workers – including 225,000 women – are committed to the effort.
