Higher dir:

The torrential rains beat the superior Dirt on Saturday, causing damage to infrastructure and claiming the life of a child.

Heavy showers have buried in the areas of Kohistan in the top of the Dir, notably Jahaz Banda, Lamoti, Badgoi and Jandri, triggering sudden floods in the streams and the Kohistan river.

Intense precipitation has swept at least three key bridges in the areas of Jahaz Banda, Lamoti, Jandri and Voisines, breaking the road links and insulating local communities.

Residents have used road repairs on a self-assistance basis in the midst of destruction.

Several houses, fertile agricultural land and liaison roads have been swept away in floods. Kumrat Road was also flooded at various points, leaving dozens of blocked tourists. Long vehicle waiting queues have been observed along the damaged sections of the route.

The flood waters have entered the Patraak bazaar, shops and flooded houses, causing substantial losses to residents and traders. Several hydroelectric units have also been swept away, causing power outages in several areas. Fruit crops and orchards have been seriously affected by the Cloudlarst.

The deputy commissioner of Dir Bala, Muhammad Fayaz, as well as the local police have reached the affected areas and launched rescue and recovery operations.

Addressing the media, he said that the temporary restoration of roads and bridges will be ensured as soon as possible to facilitate movement and help.

It is relevant to mention that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory warning based on the impact of an intense heat wave from June 18 to 22, urging the public to take precaution to minimize health risks.

The heat wave should seriously affect certain parts of southern Punjab, Sindh, Eastern Balutchistan and South Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to the opinion published Wednesday by the National Center for the National Emergency of NDMA (NEOC).

“High pressure systems in the upper atmosphere are likely to persist, leading to extreme temperatures, especially to Jacobabad, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur, Khairpur and Nawabshah,” said the opinion. Diurnal temperatures should hover between 46 ° C and 48 ° C.

In Punjab, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur are likely to be hit hard, while Sibi, Nasirabad, Dera Murad Jamali and Jaffarabad in Balochistan, and Tank, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan in Kp will also be tested.

The public was advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., wear light and adjusted color clothes and remain hydrated.

“Do not leave children or the elderly unattended in parked vehicles,” said the opinion, stressing the importance of verifying vulnerable people.

The NDMA closely monitors the situation and coordinates with the relevant provincial and local authorities. Citizens have been encouraged to follow updates from Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), NDMA and local disaster management authorities.

Any urgency must be reported to the local assistance lines or the control rooms of the provincial disasters management authorities.
