Islamabad:
The Ministry of Energy has sent uninterrupted food orders throughout the country throughout Muharram and asked the distribution companies (discos) to guarantee repair or immediate replacement of defective equipment in their system.
The Minister of Energy, Awais Leghari, published the instructions to the heads of the management of all the discos, saying that the sacred month of Muharram approached, when millions of people frequent gatherings and processions across the country.
“As you know, the sacred month of Muharramul Haram is approaching, during which millions of faithful / people in mourning across Pakistan will participate in Majalis and the processions to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA),” he said.
“Since the sacred month of Muharram falls in July and that the heat waves are expected, it is very imperative that all necessary measures be taken to ensure a supply of uninterrupted electricity-avoid any drawback of the public,” he added.
In this regard, the Minister asked the discos to take emergency measures, in particular a preemptive maintenance plan and load management; Train emergency intervention teams; and ensure generator and backup support.
“Perform in-depth inspections of all transmission and distribution networks, in particular in areas where the Majalis and the processions are expected. Make sure all the defective equipment is quickly repaired or replaced to avoid breakdowns,” said the order.
“Deploy the dedicated emergency intervention teams on alert in any Muharram, in particular the 9th and 10th of Muharram, to immediately make power disturbances,” he added.
The Minister asked the disco officials to coordinate with district administrations, law enforcement organizations and religious gatherings in order to identify the critical locations requiring priority provisions of the electricity and safeguard offer.
The Minister underlined the need to communicate proactively with consumers, in particular imambargates and mosques, concerning any measure of maintenance or potential management of the potential load to minimize the drawbacks.
He underlined the inventory update to ensure that a sufficient number of transformers and other materials were available in each subdivision. “Make sure the rescue generators and UPS systems in sensitive locations to provide backup power in the event of network problems.”
In addition, the Minister asked the allocation of rights lists and the creation of dedicated control centers to guarantee the availability of the technical and operational staff clock to quickly respond to any problem related to power.
“The sacred character of Muharram requires our greatest commitment to serve the public with diligence and respect. Any negligence in this regard will be considered seriously,” he said, and asked those responsible to submit a compliance report.
