Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall criticized the referees of the Men’s College World Series on Sunday after the Chantileers defeat against LSU Tigers.
Schnall was expelled during the first round after an argument with the host referee Angel Campos. He said that his ejection was not justified and that he was wrongly accused of having hit a referee who seemed to trip and fall to the ground when he came to break the agitation.

“If you watch the video, there was a guy who entered extremely aggressively, stumbled on the foot of Campos, embarrassed in front of 25,000, and VA,” suspension of two games “and says:” Bumping the referee “,” said Schnall. “There was no bump. I should not be held responsible for the athletics of an adult man. Now, it’s excessive because I was trying to say that I did not hit him.
“This is what it is. If it justified an ejection, there would be a lot of ejections. As an arbitrator, it is your work to manage the game with a balance and a calm and a little tolerance.”
NCAA said Schnall argued bullets and strikes, which were heard during the broadcast. The NCAA added that the head coach had been warned.
Since LSU won match 2 and the College World Series, Schnall’s suspension would start in the 2026 season. The NCAA said that Schnall and the first base coach Matt Schilling have engaged in “prolonged arguments”, which triggers a suspension of two games. Schilling should be suspended for three games – one for ejection and two for “prolonged argument”.

Schnall said that he could not hear the initial Campos warning when he was arguing bullets and strikes. He added that he was not “sorry” for what happened.
“As a chief coach, it is your right to obtain an explanation of the reason why we have been warned,” said Schnall. “I am 48 years old, and I should not be hunted by another adult man. When I got out, I was told that it was a warning issued to argue bullets and strikes, and I said it was because you missed three. At that time, ejected. If it justifies an ejection, I am the first to stand here as a man and to apologize.”
Coastal Carolina’s sports director, Chance Miller, said on Sunday evening that ejections “had changed the trajectory of an essential match for our team”.
“These decisions were made with an alarming level of haste, without attempted de-escalation, and deprived our students athletes of the leaders on which they relied throughout a historic race in the playoff series,” said Miller.
“This is not a single call – it is processes and professionalism. In the greatest moment of the university baseball season, our program and its students -athletes deserve better.”

Miller implored the NCAA to reassess her training methods and how she attributes and examines the referees in the championship circles.
