PMD plans the first showers of the monsoon tomorrow

The monsoon season this year is expected to start on Wednesday (tomorrow) bringing rain in various regions of the country, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) plans on Monday, warning sudden potential floods, urban floods, landslides and other risks related to rain.

The meteorological department said that a strong wave to the west had to approach the northern regions on June 25 (tomorrow) and could gain importance on June 26, leading to strong precipitation activities in most provinces and territories.

Currently, according to the PMD, the humid currents of the Oman Sea and the Bengal Bay had already started to penetrate the upper and central parts of Pakistan and were likely to intensify in the coming days.

Consequently, the PMD said that the rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms with scattered scattered scattered, and sometimes very heavy falls, was expected from the evening or from the night from June 24 to July 2 with occasional gaps in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Punjab.

The first showers of Mousson in Ajk were expected in the Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur. The PMD warned that strong precipitation combined with wind storms and lightning could disrupt daily life and damage weak structures such as kacha houses, electric posts, display panels, vehicles and solar panels.

He added that the continuous wet fate could present the risk of landslides that could cause road closings in the vulnerable hilly areas of KP, MIRCH, GALLIYAT, CACHEMIRE and GB. The ministry advised farmers to manage their agricultural activities taking into account rain forecasts.

“Tourists and travelers are invited to carefully plan their trips to avoid any unfortunate incident during the period of intense weather activity. The authorities concerned were responsible for staying on high alert and taking the necessary measures to protect life and goods,” said the PMD.
