LWMC to clean the station

Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has taken control of cleanliness operations at Lahore station as part of the Sthra Punjab initiative of the provincial government.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Pakistani railways and the LWMC to ensure sustained cleanliness in one of the most frequented transport poles in Pakistan. The agreement aims to provide a hygienic environment and welcoming for the thousands of passengers who cross the station daily.

The signature ceremony was followed by the local government secretary of Punjab, Shakeel Ahmed Mian, Managing Director of LWMC, Babar Sahib Din, and the CEO of Pakistan Railways Aamir Ali Baloch.

As part of the new arrangement, the LWMC will deploy a dedicated team made up of a manager, five supervisors and 105 sanitation workers operating in three -quarters to maintain cleanliness throughout the establishment.

The scope of the work includes platforms, booking counters, waiting rooms, toilets, parking areas, railways and administrative offices.

The night teams will also lead a regular washing of platforms and tracks.

The CEO of Pakistan Railways praised LWMC’s performance on Eidul Azha and cited its modern surveillance systems as a key factor behind the decision to outsource the resort of the station.
