Karachi: Pakistan obtained a place in the final of the Asia Double Squash championship after a hard victory played 2-1 against Malaysia in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
The Pakistani pair of Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal overcome Syafiq Kamal and Duncan Lee in Malaysia in a three tense game match, with scores of 10-11, 11-9 and 11-9. The semi-final closely disputed lasted an hour and eight minutes.
The Pakistani duo had progressed in the semi-finals on Tuesday with a strong performance, beating the Korean pair of Jiang Min Ryu and Jaijin Yoo in an exciting meeting 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
As the second seeded in the championship, Pakistan posted a remarkable form throughout the tournament with consecutive victories against the Philippines and South Korea in the group phase on Monday.
They sent the Philippine pair with ease, winning 11-7 and 11-4, and followed it with a dominant performance against Koreans.
For UNIVERSED, Zaman had previously left the individual Asian squash championship following a close defeat in his pre-arterfinal match.
Pakistan will now face the Archrivale and the seeded India in the championship final. The Abhay Singh of India and Velavan Senthilkumar are waiting for what promises to be a confrontation with high issues.
