Another luxury vehicle recovered in RS50M Maid Volft

Police investigating the highly publicized case of a domestic worker accused of having stolen more than 50 million rupees from his employer recovered another luxury vehicle on Wednesday, bringing the total value of the assets drawn so far to more than 10 million rupees.

According to Saeed Theem of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Clifton, the last recovery – a car of value estimated at 2.5 to 3 million rupees – was made on the basis of the information provided by the suspect’s son, who is in police custody.

The accused, Shehnaz, had been employed for 14 years in a residence in Khayaban-E-Tanzeem, Defense Housing Authority, where she would have stolen species, jewelry and other valuables in small increments without supporting.

She was arrested earlier this week following a complaint filed by her employer, Anusha Jaleel.

During a search in his residence, the police recovered 600,000 rupees in cash, while two of his bank accounts held deposits totaling 3.5 million rupees. Investigators also identified an apartment in the Gizri region recorded on behalf of Shehnaz, as well as three cars and a motorcycle, all bought using stolen funds.

The lifestyle funded by this illicit income included high -end purchases, luxury vehicles and brand clothes, according to the police. Officials said measures had been launched to seize the acquired assets.

Meanwhile, Shehnaz was presented Wednesday before a judicial magistrate with his son, Asif, and another suspect, Hammad. The court referred the three in police custody for a new interrogation.

Investigators told court that the accused operated as part of an organized group, and that Shehnaz had offered a car to her friend Naseema and a motorcycle to her husband, Mohin – who are currently on the run.

From Shehnaz, the police recovered a vehicle and more than 3.4 million rupees in cash. Another vehicle and 200,000 rupees were recovered from the Asif, while Hammad was found in possession of a motorcycle. Authorities believe that additional vehicles and assets have not yet been recovered.

The case, registered in the Clifton police station, remains under investigation. The court ordered the police to submit a stage report by June 28.
