Washington: President Donald Trump rejected the information that Iran has moved uranium enriched before the recent American air strikes, saying that there was no sign that the equipment was moved.
The affirmations, on the basis of a classified report, have raised questions about the number of damage that the strikes have really caused the Iranian nuclear program. But the White House said that uranium is still buried under rubble on targeted sites.
Trump, eager to take credit for the strike order, then quickly announce a cease-fire between Israel and Iran, reacted angrily to the media coverage of a classified report which questions the extent of damage to Iranian nuclear installations.
One of the main concerns raised by experts is whether Iran, anticipating the strike, has moved around 400 kilograms (880 pounds) of enriched uranium – which can now be hidden elsewhere in the country.
“I can tell you that the United States had no indication that this enriched uranium was moved before strikes, as I also saw it falsely,” said the white house press secretary Karoline Leavitt in an interview with Fox News.
“As for what is on the ground at the moment, it is buried under kilometers and kilometers of rubble due to the success of these strikes on Saturday evening,” she added.
