Opposite completion of the City Sewer Projects Commissioned

Karachi:

The Sindh-chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, ordered Karachi Water and Sewrage Board to ensure that the TP-I component of the S-III sanitation project is fully operational by the end of August and that work on TP-IV is accelerated to finish it in a year. He published these instructions at a high -level meeting held at home CM.

The S-III project is one of the most important efforts to solve the city’s sewer problems, where 400 to 450 million wastewater gallons are generated daily, a large part of which is not treated in the Lyari and Malir rivers. The project aims to intercept, treat and securely eliminate wastewater to protect the environment, marine life and public health.

The main components of the project include transmission packages in Lyari and Malir basins, upgrading of existing treatment plants and the construction of new installations.

TP-I implies the rehabilitation and expansion of an old treatment plant and should be ordered by August 2025. TP-IV, in the meantime, is a complete treatment and wastewater recycling system which includes flow monitoring and quality on various sites.

A recent industrial survey has revealed that more than 3,600 industries in the region require around 42 million gallons of water per day, stressing the importance of this initiative to integrate effective management of wastewater into the city’s infrastructure.

The meeting was informed that 67% of the civil work of TP-I was completed, with only remaining electrical work, which depends on the availability of funds. The chief minister also ordered the minister and the mayor of the local government to personally follow the progress to ensure that the work is completed within the stipulated period.
