- Maxell MXCP-P100 is a portable Bluetooth cassette player with a battery life up to 9 hours
- No recording or noise reduction circuit
- Not currently (officially) available outside Japan
Maxell’s new cassette player gave me a massive nostalgia rush – and if you were in the 80s, you will know exactly why. Maxell created one of the most emblematic television advertisements of all time – integrated below – in which the sound of his bands was so powerful that it was like sitting in a blower.
This bluetooth player is not going so strong, but every centimeter from the outside shouts “80!” – And of course, the interior is considerably more modern.
Maxell MXCP-P100 type Reader: specifications, price and availability
As you can see on the images, it is a compact cassette player with the usual control buttons at the top and a helmet and a volume on the side.
However, there are two additional bits on a band reader from the 80s, however: a Bluetooth button and a USB-C load port. This player uses a rechargeable battery rather than old -fashioned AAS, and it can diffuse wirelessly on your Bluetooth headphones. The Bluetooth version is 5.4.
The battery life is a nine hour claimed with wired headphones and seven without.
There is no recording here, and no Dolby noise reduction either; The battery is integrated, so you will have to take a cable if you travel the player. And unfortunately, there is one more warning: it is not officially available outside Japan, although there are tons on eBay.
The prices are variable, to say the least: I look at lists ranging from $ 202 / £ 147 to $ 398 / £ 300.
It makes him a little more expensive than the equivalent player of We Are Rewind who also has Bluetooth, but you might be more wanting to buy the Maxell because he is so much smaller – the player We Are Rewind is a thick and heavy beast.
And the FIIO CP13 is also much cheaper and closer to the right size, but it does not have Bluetooth, so once again the Maxell could be the best option if you really want to use it.
