- A team of safety experts has discovered what looks like a Verizon database for sale
- Hosted on the Clear web forum, it allegedly contains recordings of 61 million users of Verizon
- The details contained in the database suggest that it is as recent as 2025
A new report by cybersecurity researchers from SAFETYDETECTIVES has revealed a huge set of data published online by pirates in a CSV / JSON file containing a total of 3.1 GB, totaling around 61 million “Verizon USA” files. The author dated this information as “2025” which suggests a new violation of potential data – although Verizon has since said Techradar Pro that he examined the data published and these are old data, not affiliated with the company.
The information on display includes sensitive data, including names, birth dates, identity identifiers, addresses and telephone numbers. Verizon is a telecommunications giant and has nearly 150 million subscribers – which makes it the largest wireless operator in the United States.
What you need to know
It is not yet clear where this information comes from, if it is a new violation, the researchers have discovered, or even if the data really belong to Verizon customers, although the researchers confirm that it “seems legitimate”. Techradar Pro contacted Verizon to confirm, and a spokesperson made this declaration to us;
“We are aware of a problem in which a threat player has published a set of data demanding that of Verizon customers on The Dark Web. We have examined the publications and determined that these are old data, previously published on the Dark Web, and is not affiliated with our business or our customers. In addition, this threat player recently made similar claims on other major American wireless companies.
Recently, reports have revealed a Verizon flaw that could allow hackers to see all of their call history, although the defect was discussed in March, and the defect mainly threatened large -scale figures or journalists whose call newspapers could be interesting.
At the same time, thousands of Verizon employees were potentially at risk after a violation of initiates – but that did not affect customers. Employee data included personally identifiable information – workers should therefore be looking for social engineering attacks.

How to stay safe
In addition to the protection software against identity theft, customers can secure themselves by being ultra careful with any unexpected communication, carefully checking the emails and SMS they receive and never clicking on unreliable links.
Make sure you use safe and secure passwords that you turn regularly – and never reuse a password, especially on sites that have sensitive data such as health, financial or personal information.
