Lahore:
The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, ordered the more electric bus supply for the districts of southern Punjab.
Chairing a meeting during which the transport service informed him of his projects and the progress made on the electric bus project have been examined, the chief minister said that the remote areas should have priority in the supply of electric bus.
She underlined: “The culture of always giving each new installation to large cities must be modified. We will bring rural areas to the level of large cities.”
She ordered that 240 electric buses are given priority to 24 districts. In the first phase, the 240 e-bus will be provided to relatively underdeveloped districts.
Between August and October, 500 e-bus will be provided for Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan and Rawalpindi. From November to December, 600 additional electric buses will arrive at Punjab.
The chief minister underlined: “As part of the Punjab Clean Air program, 400 electric buses will be provided in Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Lahore.”
A detailed examination was carried out from Gujranwala Bus Rapid Transit Project. In order to connect the whole city and the suburban areas, 80 food buses will be launched. On the 22 km long BRT system from Rahwali to Eminabad, 28 stations will be established.
A proposal to extend the BRT road from Gujranwala was also examined. The BRT system will provide two -way transport every eight minutes.
Head Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued directives that traffic along the Gujranwala BRT itinerary should be managed thanks to an intelligent traffic control solution. For this project, four electric bus deposits will be created in Gujranwala.
During the meeting, progress on orange line and red line transport systems in Faisalabad have also been examined.
The red line will be 23.4 km long, with 24 stations, and should transport more than 185,000 passengers per day. The orange line will be 29 km long, with 21 stations, and should transport more than 111,000 passengers per day.
On the instructions of the chief minister, the Route du FiedMC in Salami Chowk was included in the project.
The chief minister ordered the transport department to immediately start all social protection projects and said that the e-bus routes should be determined while keeping public turnipping needs.
