The additional judge of the district and the Rawalpindi sessions, Majid Hussain Gadhi, approved the deposit on Saturday for medical reasons of Chaudhry Tanveer Khan, former senator of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).
Tanveer was arrested in the case of murder of Chaudhry Adnan, former MPa PTI and former provincial parliamentary secretary. The court ordered its immediate release, subject to the submission of two bonds worth RS1 million each, which was quickly furnished.
Despite his arrest, Tanveer was admitted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) due to a serious heart disease, with a police guard parked outside his hospital service. Following the approval by the surety court, prison officials and police staff were withdrawn according to the instructions of the superintendent of Adiala prison, effectively restoring the status of the former legislator as a free citizen.
Chaudhry Tanveer had visited voluntarily on June 17 before the Rawalpindi bench of the High Court of Lahore (LHC) by removing his request for release under surety before the arrest.
Police placed him in custody of the courtroom and obtained a two -day pre -trial detention, after which he was sent in police custody but admitted to the hospital because of his heart disease.
He had been accused of conspiracy and planning of the targeted murder of Chaudhry Adnan, who was shot down near the police door in Rawalpindi. The FIR was recorded on February 12, 2024 in the civil line police station, appointing Chaudhry Tanveer, Osama Chaudhry, Daniyal Chaudhry and Chaudhry Change as suspects.
During the hearing hearing under bond, the court observed that the evidence concerning the allegation of conspiracy were insufficient, leading to the approval of the deposit. The defense was led by lawyer Malik Waheed Anjum, while Coconsseil Chaudhry Yasir Advocate said that the surrender had been voluntarily made to ensure a fair and transparent investigation, and they would continue to continue the case to prove the innocence of their client.
On the other hand, the complainant’s lawyer Shehzad Bhatti announced that the release decision under bond would be challenged before the High Court of Lahore (LHC).
