- A range of new safety features has arrived with a user interface 7
- Samsung recommends users to activate them
- They will help protect your data if someone slides your phone
Samsung is rather proud of some of the anti-theft features that it recently deployed with an IU 7 (based on Android 15), so much so that the company has published a press release strongly advising users to activate these new features.
“Samsung calls Galaxy users to activate the latest anti -theft features now available on their devices,” reads the directive (via Android Authority). “These updates reflect Samsung’s engagement to provide smarter and stronger protection – help users protect their data and stay in control, even in high -risk situations.”
There are five features mentioned, although they are not all new. The first is the flight detection lock, which uses your phone sensors to detect when it could have been torn off and automatically lock the screen.
There is also an offline device locking, which locks the phone after being offline for an extended period and a remote lock – the possibility for users to lock a phone remotely from another device if it were lost or stolen.
Where to find these features
Samsung one UI 7 also offers an identity check, which means that biometric authentication is necessary to modify the security parameters and the security delay: a one hour waiting period which is applied if the biometric data is reset to a phone.
If you have made your phone taken, this waiting period should give you time to lock it remotely and take the other necessary measures, before the person trying to reset it can access fully.
All these features can be found and activated via the parameter panel in an IU 7: Press Security and confidentiality> Protection of lost peripheralsAnd you will find options to record your device with the Find My Mobile service (to lock it remotely), and to manage the other safety features reported by Samsung.
It should also be mentioned that these are not exclusives of Samsung: you can find these features, such as flight detection locking, on other phones running the Android 15 software from Google (including the best Pixel phones).
