“You are entering the best chapter in your life – you just need to cure first,” read the first slide. “Sometimes God allows betrayal … because it leads to the breakthrough.

“Most people have no idea what I have endured. Ignore their opinions. The truth is always revealed,” said another slide.

“Divorce is not the end of my story. This is the beginning of my rebirth,” she concluded.

Reid and Lochte revealed earlier this month that they were ready to divorce after seven years of marriage. TMZ said Reid had asked for divorce earlier this year, a decision that came “after a deep prayer and a reflection,” she said.

“I hold marriage in the highest esteem, so it was one of the most painful, the most revealing and difficult seasons of my life. I hesitated to share until I can do a place of healing – not fresh and open injuries,” Reid wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Sometimes we are confronted with trials that we have not chosen or seen coming. And in these moments, we are forced to make the most difficult decisions to protect our peace, our children and our future. I have come to understand that staying is not always the most loving decision that someone can take. For me, to leave was an act of love – for those around me and for myself.”

Lochte then went to Instagram, saying that the decision “was not easy”.

“I want to take a moment to recognize what Kayla has shared. During the last year, we have made major changes for the two of us because we have made the difficult decision to put an end to our marriage. I am deeply grateful for the life that we built together and especially for the love we share for our three children,” he wrote on social networks.

“Although this decision was not easy, I think it is the right step towards peace and well -being for the two of us. I remain determined to heal, growth and coparentality with care and respect when we are going ahead. Thank you to our family and our friends for your continuous support – it really means a lot when we start this new chapter.”

The couple got engaged in 2016, the same year, Lochte was involved in a controversial incident in a service station during the Rio Olympic Games. Lochte initially said that he and his teammates had been stolen under the threat of a weapon, but it was determined that those who have firearms were in fact security agents in a gas station where swimmers had urinated outside a bathroom. Lochte finally lost four major sponsorships and the United States did not suspend it for 10 months.
