Police were killed during a road attack in Lakki Marwat

Two traffic police officers were killed on Tuesday in an ambush on the Ghazni Khel – Long Khel road, near Gul Baz Dehqan, in the district of Lakki Marwat, Khyber -Pakhtunkhwa, according to local police.

The attackers, who remain unidentified, opened fire on the police when they were traveling on a motorcycle. The attackers also snatched the official weapons of the officers before fleeing the premises.

The deceased officers were identified as Israel and Sanaullah, who were on the way to their Long Khel native village in Taja Zai Adda for duty when the incident occurred.

A few days earlier, Sunday, the head of a local peace committee, Ghamam Dastagir, also known as Fauji, and his two companions were slaughtered during a targeted attack in the Kara Wanda region of Lakki Marwat, the police confirmed.

Dastagir, who headed the Shahab Khel peace committee, went to Qabol Khel when unidentified armed men set out to an ambush to his vehicle. His companions, Saleem Khan and Salahuddin, were also killed on the scene.

In April, two deadly assaults targeted groups of peace committee in Lakki Marwat and south of Waziristan, including an explosion of bomb that killed at least seven people in a office of the Peace Committee.

Last month, the gendarme Khushdil Khan, a resident of Wanda Fateh Khan, was kidnapped from his home and later murdered by unidentified armed men. He was removed in front of his children during a raid at the end of the evening, and his body was then recovered in a deserted area.
