Islamabad:
In a movement reflecting the deepening of political discomfort, the parliamentary party of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) decided to administer oaths of loyalty of new legislators, in the midst of the concerns of possible defections following a verdict of the Supreme Court on the reserved seats.
According to a report of News On Tuesday, the PTI summoned a crucial meeting of its parliamentary party in Islamabad on Tuesday. All members of the national and provincial assemblies affiliated to the party have been responsible for attending it.
The party initiates said that the main objective of the meeting will be the scalable political dynamic in the light of the recent decision of the Supreme Court, which deprived the PTI of its claim to nearly 80 seats reserved for national and provincial legislatures.
Discussions will also focus on political calculation in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where changing alliances could prove to be crucial in the coming days.

In particular in KP, where the independents supported by the PTIs have the influence, the party leadership remains suspicious of the openings by the rival political forces. Thirty -five of these independents – aligned with the PTI – should resume the promises of loyalty, reaffirm their commitment to the party.
Sources have confirmed that a similar oath exercise had been carried out after the elections, but new fears of desertions caused renewed action.
The short ordinance of the Supreme Court, issued last week, canceled a verdict of July 12, 2024 which had restored the status of PTI as a parliamentary party and granted it access to the reserved seats.
The recent decision has considerably changed the balance of the powers of the National Assembly, strengthening the position of the power coalition, which is now within the reach of a majority of two thirds – a result with large -scale implications for constitutional amendments and governance.
