Islamabad:
PTI incarcerated leaders expressed their desire to engage in political dialogue with other parties, provided that they are first authorized to meet the founding president of the party, Imran Khan.
The detained leaders left the door to slightly ajar talks, saying that any significant commitment must start with access to Khan.
The proposal follows the recent appeal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to a political dialogue within the framework of the deepening of political uncertainty.
In an open letter addressed to the government, the high leaders of the PTI detained in the prisons of Lahore proposed talks initiated to help navigate the country of its current political and constitutional crisis.
The open letter, written by PTI leaders of Lahore currently in detention, notably Mian Mehmood-Ur-Rasheed, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry and Omar Sarfraz Cheema, was sent to the government.
The letter stressed that the country faced an unprecedented political and constitutional crisis and stressing that complete negotiations were the only way to follow.
The leaders argued that the dialogue should not only take place at the political level, but must also include the establishment to ensure that all stakeholders can proceed to mutual trust. They called for the immediate initiation of talks and the inclusion of PTI leaders currently imprisoned in the prisons of Lahore.
“No important political decision can be made without the consultation with Imran Khan,” said the letter. “An effective representation is only possible if we have his advice.”
In addition, the letter said that a punctual meeting with the imprisoned chief boss would not be enough. Instead, there must be possibilities for consultation with Imran Khan to ensure that the negotiation process remains effective and coherent.
Meanwhile, from Adiala prison, Imran Khan asked party leaders to prepare for a political movement after Ashura.
Addressing the media outside of Adiala prison on Tuesday, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan said that she and her sisters had welcomed a 15 -minute meeting with him, while lawyer Zaheer Abbas had only granted him 90 seconds.
She added that other lawyers, including Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja and Niazullah Niazi, were fully refused access.
“These are deliberate attempts to put the founder of the party away,” she said.
Aleema cited Imran Khan as indicating that the consequences of the 26th constitutional amendment become more and more obvious.
“He said that if you steal people’s votes and says they don’t matter, it means that you have effectively imposed martial law. If you transform the judiciary into a government department and treat the judges in this way, the rule of law is finished.”
“People sitting in the assemblies were not elected by votes. The voice of the media has been silenced. Now they bring the 27th amendment. It would be better to declare the monarchy, because the voice of the people has been removed. Pakistan was created in the name of Kalma, and it is this belief that supports us. Imran says.
According to Aleema, Imran ordered the party to start preparing for a protest movement after Ashura.
