The chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, disputed the state, claiming that if he can legally overthrow his government by constitutional means, he will leave the policy if they succeed.
“Do not do anything unconstitution – and even by constitutional means, you can do nothing. Our government, our power and everything belong to Imran Khan. He can ask us to overthrow the government when he wishes. Our government cannot be reversed by constitutional methods.” He said.
Following a meeting of the Parliamentary Party of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), Gandapur held a joint press conference with the president of Pti Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja and other leaders on Wednesday.
He described the state, often considered a “mother”, as tyrannically behaving. “I challenge the state and all its institutions. You have tried conspiracies and stranded. You have used unconstitutional means and you still cannot succeed,” he said.
Gandapur criticized the actions of the state by saying: “You failed in your plots and my unconstitutional measures. You have imposed the martial law and the reign of the governor in the past. Now, I dispute your power and your authority. Put our people in prison, use all your strength and try to overthrow the KP government.”
The CM has added that they cannot withdraw its government by legal and constitutional means because they cannot break its members. “No one has the power to break those who stand with Imran Khan.”
He also said: “Today’s meeting sends a message to those who think we are divided. We are fully committed, body and soul, to ensure the release of the founder of PTI. I was arrested before May 9. They claim that we committed excesses on May 9, but the plot against the founder of PTI started before that.”
Gandapur stressed that the 26th constitutional amendment is an attack on the judiciary and that PTI will work to reverse him when he returned to power.
Regarding a meeting with the former imprisoned Prime Minister, he said: “Imran Khan asked for a meeting, and it is our right to meet him because he is the party leader. However, I feel that this meeting may not be organized.”
In response to a question, he said that Imran Khan had never refused to negotiate. “We want to speak to those who really hold power. Right now, the country is directed with batons, and everyone knows the true value of PML-N and PPP.”
Regarding the future actions of PTI, Gandapur announced that the party planned to launch a political movement nationally after Muharram and would intensify its efforts. He warned: “If balls are drawn to us, the answer will be the same, the answer will be similar.”
