PMD warns against thunderstorms, sudden floods in KP

On Wednesday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned heavy rains and thunderstorms in several Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) districts on Wednesday, issuing flood alerts for rivers and local rivers in the midst of the concerns of potential landslides in hilly regions.

The alert was issued after the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that the province had recorded the greatest number of victims of the rain -related incidents, followed by 21 deaths in Punjab since June 26.

At least 15 deaths were reported in the Sindh and five in Balutchistan, bringing the national toll to 63 in a week. The showers early in the morning, accompanied by strong winds, whipped peshawar and neighboring areas, relieving intense heat and reversing pleasant time.

According to the PMD, a new rain system should persist in the coming days. Thunderstorms and heavy rains are expected in the upper and lower dirts, Swat, Biner, Malakand, Bajaur, Battagram, Shangla and Kohistan. Similar weather conditions have been planned for Torghar, Manshra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kurram and Mohmand.

Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Chitral, Khyber and Orakzai can also feel rain coupled with gusts. The parts of the south of the province, including Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, were also placed on alert.

The PMD warned against possible floods in the Kabul, Swat and Panjkora rivers. Sudden floods in local streams are also feared in Swabi, Mardan, Manshra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat and Shangla. The authority also reported the risk of landslides in mountainous areas, which could disrupt road links and lay security risks for residents and travelers.

The temperatures recorded on KP during the current weather activity included 38 ° C in Peshawar, 42 ° C in Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu, 39 ° C in chitral and 29 ° C in Kalam. Malam Jabba remained the coolest, with a recorded temperature of 25 ° C.

Residents were advised to remain cautious and follow the weather opinions issued by the local authorities.

Monsoon alert issued for Sindh

The PMD’s early alert center has issued a monsoon alert for parts of the Sindh, warning that moderate monsoon currents began to enter the southeast districts.

According to forecasts, Karachi should remain mainly cloudy and humid over the next three days, with chances of light rain or drizzle during the night and early in the morning.

Precipitation – ranging from light to moderate – are probably to Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar between July 2 and July 4. Light rains or burnt can also occur in Badin, Ththan, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Tando Mohammad Khan, Dadu, Khairpur, Sukkur, and Larkana.
