Lahore: The very first International Golden Wrestler in Pakistan, Din Mohammad, died after prolonged disease. He was over 100 years old.

Originally from the Pure Bata region of Lahore, Din Mohammad obtained the honor of winning the first gold medal in Pakistan during the 1954 Asian Games which were held in Manila.

Representing the country in the struggle, he defeated the adversaries of the Philippines, India and Japan to claim the best podium.

In addition to the Asian Gold games, Din Mohammad also won a bronze medal for Commonwealth Games and represented Pakistan in many international events, raising the national flag with pride.

Punjab Sports Board spokesperson confirmed his death and recalled that it was Din Mohammad who gave Pakistan his very first gold at an international event.

The Minister of Sports of Punjab, Malik Faisal, Ayub Khokhar, expressed his depth to his death, saying: “The services of Din Mohammad to the nation and the struggle are unforgettable. He raised the Pakistan flag into international arenas and is a real national hero. ”

The director general of the Punjab of Sports Khizar Afzal Chaudhry also sparked sincere condolences, saying: “May Allah grant him the highest place of Jannah. The wrestler Din Mohammad has made the nation proud and his contribution to Pakistani sports will always be memories. ”

The two officials extended prayers and sympathies to the bereaved family, qualifying Din Mohammad a source of pride for the nation and an inspiration for future generations.
