Nearly 50,000 police officers will be deployed for Muharram processions security in Sindh, the main minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Thursday.

The tense geopolitical situation in the region aggravated by the collaboration of anti-states elements with the mandates of a hostile neighboring safety for mass gatherings of Muharram.

Sharjeel assured that the Sindh government has made infallible security arrangements for Muharram.

The most important thing was the unity of the Ummah to overcome the conceptions of the enemies of the country to use the days of Muharram to fade sectarian hatred and violence.

The main minister said that Minister Murad Ali Shah organized meetings with researchers from various schools of thought to ensure harmony and examined the security and procession safety plan.

Sharjeel told the media that 14,546 police officers would be deployed for gatherings and 35,116 for Muharram processions, with more than 14,000 additional people affected to ensure the safety of all events.

He announced that a total of 49,662 police officers will be deployed through Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad from 8 to 10th in Muharram to prevent any unfortunate incident and maintain peace.

He stressed that if the Sindh government tolerates criticism, it will not allow anyone to dictate its policies. He added that the government had also proposed to allocate a large area designated for demonstrations to ensure that public life is not affected.

Traffic plan for three days of Muharram

Traffic police have announced a special traffic plan for the 8, 9th and 10th of Muharram. As part of the plan, my Jinnah Road will remain closed from Guru Mandir to Tower on the three days due to security problems. The main Muharram processions will start from the Nishtar Park and will end in Hussainia Iranian Imambargah, passing through its designated routes. Vehicles with special stickers issued for the procession will be allowed to join.

According to the planned traffic plan, Nazimabad shuttlemen can travel through Lasbela Chowk via Nishtar Road and Garden. Those who come from Liaquatabad can turn right in Teen Hatti to Lasbela Chowk or left towards the central prison and Martin Road.

Motorists from Hassan Square and heading for PP Chowrangi can use the Kashmir Route under prison overflight, Light Signal, Sharah-E-Quaïdeen and Nishtar Road via Teen Hatti and Lasbela Chowk.

Sharea Faisal’s commutors to Sharah-E-Quaideen and Nooorani Kabab in Nunish can turn right on the fire from traffic to the Kashmir road. Those who go to Guru Mandir or my Jinnah Road via the prison door or the Jamshed road can take Bahadur Yar Jang Road and go through Soldier Bazaar. Likewise, those of the Garden zoo heading towards my Jinnah Road will be diverted via Anklesaria to Gul Plaza or the Coast Guard, near Holy Family Hospital.

All the heavy and commercial vehicles of Super Highway or Gulberg to my Jinnah Road will be diverted from Liaquatabad No10 in Nazimabad Chowrangi No2, then proceed via Habib Bank Flyover, State avenue Road and Shershah in Mauripur. The same route will apply for the return.

Intense traffic from the National Highway will take Sharea Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No10 and Nazimabad Chowrangi No2 to Mauripur, and will follow the same route.

The traffic police spokesman said that no small or large vehicle will be authorized beyond Guru Mandir Chowk on the procession track. All this traffic will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar. Vehicles with stickers will be allowed to have entered Sharah-E-Quaideen via the Light Signal company.

Participants arriving from Nazimabad can enter via Lasbela, Al-Bela, Garden Jamaat Khana, Soldier Bazaar No3 TRAFFIC Fight to NUMAISH. Those of Liaquatabad, Teen Hatti, Jehangir Road, Guru Mandir, Society Signal, Gulistan-E-Johar, Gulshan-E-Iqbal, University Road, Old Sabzi Mandi, Cachemir Road can also through Numem.

Vehicles distributing Niaz or Tabarruk will only be allowed the entry into the Tour procession near Memon Masjid. No vehicle will be allowed to park along the procession road.
