Islamabad:
The Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi and the Minister of State in the Interior Talal Chaudhry held an important meeting on Thursday with the main religious scholars from across the country to discuss peacekeeping measures, law and order, and interconfessional harmony during Muharram, in particular on Ashura.
The meeting, chaired by the president of the Central Committee of Rue-E-Hilal, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, brought together academics from all schools of thought. High officials from the Ministry of the Interior, FIA, the Islamabad police and other law enforcement organizations were also present.
During the meeting, Mohin Naqvi praised the important role played by religious researchers in preserving peace and stability during sensitive periods. He said their efforts are as crucial as those of the security forces and that researchers remain in constant contact with the administration, helping to solve problems before degenerating. He added that he had personally seen many sensitive questions resolved peacefully by the wisdom and efforts of religious scholars.
The Minister stressed the importance of mutual respect among the different sects, declaring: “We must neither abandon our own sect nor attack others”. He called this a golden principle that should spread throughout the country to promote unity. He also pointed out that Imam Hussain (AS) is a venerated figure for all Muslims and that each believer shares an equal spiritual connection with him.
