- Xbox has canceled Everwild, perfect darkand an unexpected game of Zenimax
- Perfect Dark Developer, the initiative, was also closed
- The layoffs have occurred in several studios
Microsoft has once again made important cuts to its game division, while Xbox cancels a handful of games, closes a studio and performs another series of mass layoffs.
As Bloomberg reported, Xbox closed studio the initiative and then canceled the next Perfect Dark restart. Rare Farce has also been canceled, as well as an unexpected online title of The elder scrolls online Zenimax developer online studios.
Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, said in an e-mail to Xbox staff that cuts “reflect a wider effort to adjust the priorities and concentrate resources to set up our teams for greater success in an industrial changing landscape”.
To facilitate these adjustments, Xbox would have dismissed staff in a number of its studios. These include Zenimax, Candy Crush Maker King, Call of duty Studios support Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, Forza Motorsport Developer turn 10 studios and halo studios who is responsible for the widest Halo franchise.
In total, it seems that 9,000 tearing staff were affected by the cuts. In May 2025, Microsoft also reduced around 6,000 to 7,000 employees of its workforce, which means that the company potentially allowed around 15,000 employees to leave this year only – a terribly high number.
Nor is it the first time that Xbox has chosen to close whole studios. Last year, the company closed Arkane Austin, as well as Alpha Dog games, round and perhaps the most controversial, Tango GameWorks. Fortunately, the Rush hi-fi And The evil inside The developer could be relocated under the direction of the South Korean publisher Krafton, but all the studios were not so lucky.
