Miranshah:
An assistant police director (DSP) was seriously injured while a police officer was kidnapped after unidentified attackers opened fire on a police vehicle in the Azam Warsak region in southern Waziristan on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the vehicle was on the way from Wana to the subdivision you khulla via Samar Bagh when he was attacked. The injured officer, DSP Rakhmeen, was immediately transferred to the hospital where he received medical treatment.
A research operation is underway to locate the disappeared police manager, while security in the region was tightened in the aftermath of the incident. Authorities have increased monitoring of all entry and exit points to avoid new violence.
Meanwhile, a curfew was imposed in several parts of the bottom of the southern south Waziristan earlier during the day. In a notification issued by the sub-commissioner on Tuesday, all the roads towards Shakai, Tiarza, Sholam, Khamrang and Tanai were declared completely closed for the movement on July 3.
