Islamabad:
Elections in the Senate for 11 seats – including seven general seats, two reserved for women and two for technocrats / Ulemas – from Khyber -Pakhtunkhwa are scheduled for July 21 at the Building of the Provincial Assembly.
The ECP also announced the Senate’s by -election calendar due to Professor Sajid Mir and other people released by Sania Nishtar with the ballot, which will be held on July 21 and 31 respectively.
A spokesperson for the Electoral Commission said on Friday that the Commission reported the elections on April 2, 2024, due to an incomplete electoral college – resulting from the speaker’s office to administer the oaths to elected members on seats reserved for the provincial assembly.
In addition, the electoral commission announced the calendar to fill two seats for vacant women’s reserved women from the Pakistani-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N) in the National Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These seats were reinstated following the verdict of the Supreme Court on the reserved representation.
According to the official calendar, the return manager will publish the public opinion on July 8, 2025.
The appointment documents can be submitted on July 9 and 10.
The examination of the appointment documents will take place on July 14 and the final list of candidates will be published on July 24, 2025.
The list of PML-N priorities has been exhausted and must submit a new list of priorities to the return agent by July 10, according to a press release.
On July 2, the electoral commission made notifications for members elected to the seats reserved in the national and provincial assemblies.
Letters have also been sent to the respective speakers, inviting them to organize oath ceremonies so that members can officially assume the office and participate in the next elections in the Senate for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
