Tarbela water flow to go up

Islamabad:

In the midst of implacable precipitation in the upper regions and the water level in the Tarbela dam which increases, inciting the authorities to open the downstairs of the dam to manage the influx.

The operation was scheduled for 12 noon on Friday, according to officials, who issued an alert for citizens residing along the dumping roads to remain cautious.

The release of the spillway should lead to flood-type conditions in the Industry river, they added.

According to a spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the opening of spills can lead to an increase in water considerably, varying between 260,000 and 270,000 Cusecases.

In light of the planned overvoltage, the NDMA strongly advised residents of the adjacent regions to stay away from the banks and the water canals.

Meanwhile, five people who were trapped in the industrial river near Hund were saved safely on Friday evening after a sudden increase in the water levels caused by the opening of the Tarbela dam spits.

According to officials, the incident occurred while individuals were swimming in the river when the water level increased quickly, leaving them blocked.

The increase in water was triggered by continuous rains in the upper regions, which prompted the authorities to release the water from the dam earlier during the day.

By receiving the distress call, a Swabi 1122 rescue team quickly reached the premises. Equipped with a rescue boat, a life jacket and other security equipment, the team launched an immediate operation and successfully put the five individuals in safety.

Local residents were invited to adopt preventive measures and avoid venturing near rivers or any high -risk water passages during this intensified flow period.

Meanwhile, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) released on Friday 275,954 water records from various rim stations with an influx of 408,931 Cusecs.

According to data published by the IRSA, the water level in the Industry river at the Tarbela dam was 1,520.00 feet, 118.00 feet more than the dead level of 1402.00 feet. The flow of water and the flow in the dam were recorded at 272,900 Cuses and 151,500 Cuses, respectively.

The water level in the Jhelum river at the Mangla dam was 1,178.50 feet, 128.50 feet more than its 1,050 feet level. The influx and flow of water were recorded at 21,577 cuses and 10,000 brackets, respectively.
