Balakot:
In anticipation of an increase in water flow during the current monsoon season, the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) has launched efforts to eliminate dry plates in the middle of the Kunhar river – areas where tourists often meet for photography and picnics.
Tourists have been advised to keep a safety distance from the river. During a visit to Naran, the director general of KDA, Shabbir Khan, published other instructions for staff to ensure the safety of tourists.
According to officials, the patrol teams work through vulnerable places in the Kaghan Valley to urge tourists to stay far from the banks.
Due to the increase in water levels in the Kunhar river, the Rangers of the Community River and the tourism police were deployed to several points to restrict access to the river.
The technical teams began to eliminate dry plates accessible along the Naran-Jalkhad road to prevent tourists from using them.
These areas, although picturesque, pose serious safety risks during the swells of the sudden river caused by monsoon rains.
Head secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah asked DG Shabbir Khan to monitor key points along the river. The patrol teams were also invited to inform visitors of the dangers posed by seasonal floods and to apply safe behavior near the river.
