Karachi: The Sindh government has imposed a riding prohibition as part of the measures taken to ensure the safety of Muharram processions and activities in the metropolis.
Muharram is one of the four sacred months of Islam. His 10th day, known as Ashura, marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PSL), as well as family members in the battle of Karbala.
Throughout the country, the faithful occupy processions and major during Muharram. Religious scholars deliver sermons to large rallies, detained under tight security.
In Karachi, more than 5,000 police officers were deployed for the central procession coupled with 1,000 people by maintaining the flow of traffic, the government also suspended the cellular service along the route of the procession – which started from Nishtar park.
In addition to the elite shooters deployed on high -rise buildings, associated with processing routes checked via sniff dogs, the authorities also surveillance via closed circuit television cameras (CCTV).
My Jinnah Road was also closed for the traffic and markets and stores of my Jinnah Road, Saddar, the Empress, Regal and Lighthouse Markets were sealed, and the streets related to the procession routes were blocked via containers.

While vehicles from the Super Highway are diverted from Liaquatabad No 10 in Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2.
People who travel from Liaquatabad are directed to Teen Hatti, Martin Road and Jail Road.
According to the Karachi traffic police diversion plan published on Friday, the commuters traveling from Hassan Square to PP Chowrangi can take the road to the cashmere under the overflight of the prison, then head to the company Light Signal (Sharea Quaideen), or use the overflight of the prison to reach Teen Hatti and Nishtar Road via Lasbela Chowk.
