The mugshot of the former Olympic Olympic gold medalist in American gymnastics Mary Lou Reton was released on Tuesday, months after the arrest of Reton for a Dui accusation in Virginia-Western.
The Mugshot showed the former gymnastics star of dark mood, apparently on the verge of tears.

Reton was accused of a leader under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances or drugs on May 17, according to the judicial archives of Marion. She was released from prison after publishing a personal receipt of $ 1,500.
In a statement previously provided to PK Press Club Digital by Reton’s lawyer, Edmund J. Rollo, the gold medalist admitted to having led under the influence and apologized.
“I take full responsibility for my actions,” said the press release. “What happened was completely unacceptable. I don’t excuse. For my family, my friends and my fans: I dropped you, and for that, I’m deeply sorry.
“I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I agree to make positive changes in my life. I really appreciate your concern, your encouragement and your continuous support.”
Reton also pleaded a plea without question and a county judge of Marion inflicted a fine of $ 100, according to Rollo.

“Mary Lou Retton appeared in court this afternoon and pleaded without assistance to an unwavered dui accusation resulting from a recent incident,” Rollo told PK Press Club Digital. “Mary Lou has accepted the full responsibility of her actions and received a standard fine of $ 100, in accordance with the sentence determination for the first not aggravated offenses in this jurisdiction.
“In accordance with her values, Mary Lou has made no request for special processing and was submitted to the same legal process as any other person. She is grateful to the professionalism of the police and the judicial system, and she fully respects the result. Mary Lou has expressed a sincere desire to use this personal and professional experience.”

Reton was nicknamed “America’s Sweetheart” during his winning performance of the gold medal at the 1984 summer games in Los Angeles. She also sat on the council of the president of physical condition and sports under President George W. Bush.
Reton was diagnosed with a “rare form of pneumonia” in 2023, and her family said at the time that they “fought for her life”. She was admitted in an intensive care unit when doctors have helped her fight against the disease.
