Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and the Minister of National Defense Yasir Güler arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for an official visit to Pakistan.

The Turkish delegation was received by the additional secretary of Western Asia, Ambassador Syed Ali Asad Gillani, upon arrival.

During the visit, the two parties should discuss the key bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in the defense industry.

The Express TribunHe reported yesterday that the ministers of foreigners and the defense of Turkey will visit Islamabad for interviews with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Turkey has maintained close links with Pakistan and expressed its support for Islamabad during its military conflict with India in May, a position that sparked criticism from New Delhi.

During the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan will express the desire of Turkey to deepen the links in all areas and to offer the support of Ankara to take measures towards regional peace, said the source. Fidan will stress that countries “must strengthen their cooperation in the defense industry,” said the source.
