- The British government and the Google Cloud sign a new partnership
- Google Cloud seeks to modernize the technological battery of the aging British government
- 100,000 civil servants who should receive more training on AI and other technologies
Google Cloud has announced a major partnership with the British government that will help the country get rid of aging technological systems.
Announced during the Google Cloud Summit of London, the agreement will seek to help the British government update a multitude of inherited technologies, some of whom are in decades, to unlock up to $ 45 billion in efficiency savings.
The partnership will seek to modernize the commonly used services of the NHS, as well as the tools of the local council, covering everything, from the collection of bins to income declarations.
So long “ball and chain”
Speaking at the top, the Secretary of Technology Peter Kyle noted that the agreement will seek to provide a major upgrade between public sector services in the United Kingdom, where more than one in four system should operate on inherited technology. This jumps up to 70% in certain police forces and NHS trusts, sometimes on contracts signed decades ago.
He noted how, in certain fields, the technology used is decades, leaving these organizations at risk of cyber attacks or breakdowns, and which means that workers have no efficacy and productivity gains offered by more recent technology.
Google Cloud hopes that its help will help government organizations abandon these “Ball and Chain” technological contracts, where providers have often made data transfer to modern systems too difficult, certain companies hikeing prices while the taxpayer is locked in contracts.
“With more practical support, I can’t wait to see what our two teams deliver,” added Kyle.
In the future, Google Cloud will also help the British government explore the use of technologies such as quantum IT in the public sector, as well as the study of the development of a single platform to monitor and protect the public sector from the latest cybersecurity threats.
“Google Cloud is proud to be a strategic partner of the British government as they embark on this ambitious digital transformation,” noted Tara Brady, president, Google Cloud Emea.
“As the country evolves, the flexibility of Google Cloud will help the government to direct the AI era.”
Google Cloud will also help stimulate workers within the British government, with a new training program by seeing 100,000 civil servants obtaining additional help with AI and other new technologies by 2030.
Elsewhere, Google Cloud is organizing an accelerator program without a stock of 12 weeks for AI seed startups based in the United Kingdom, in partnership with Tech London Advocates.
This follows the advantages announced earlier this year as part of the “Gemini for UK” initiative, with Google Cloud providing up to £ 280,000 in cloud credits for eligible IA startups based on the United Kingdom.
SYS SYS that since 2023, more than 60% of Genai UK startups are Google Cloud customers, and it is looking to help some of these even more companies, securing spaces for four best IA UK startups on Europe on Google level for accelerator startups, which will join 15 best IA startups through Europe to obtain Google expertise to accelerate growth.
