LeBron James left his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time after the 2017-18 season. He has spent the last seven seasons of the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning a championship with the franchise in 2020.
James entered this offseason with a player option of $ 52.6 million, which he finally decided to exercise for the 2025-26 season. Despite the decision, James could be open to at least to explore options with other teams before the new season went in the fall.
James has already played 21 NBA seasons and will celebrate his 41st anniversary a few months after the start of next season. Although it is not clear exactly how long James will continue to play in the league, he is certainly much closer to the end of his legendary career than at the start or even in the middle.

The Lakers Insider, Jovan Buha, recently offered his point of view on the location of the quadruple NBA champion relationship with purple and gold.
“I mean, I want to be careful what I say about the Bron relationship with the front office or the organization, but I don’t think it’s in the best place right now, to be completely honest,” said Buha during an appearance on his podcast “Buha’s Block”.

The founder and CEO of Klutch Sports, Rich Paul, who also represents James, told ESPN that James “would closely monitor the movements of the Lakers and if the team positions this offseason to align a list of titles.”

Buha also underlined the absence of “official declaration” of the Lakers in the following hours and days which followed him to exercise his player option.
“As you know, there was no official statement that LeBron is opposed. There is generally – especially for a player of this magnitude,” said Buha. “And then he had his business on social networks or everything he published, and there was obviously the declaration when he opted. So, I don’t think things are in the best place they have ever been. I’m just going to say that. Do what you want.”

Brian Windhorst d’Espn, who has spent the last two decades after James’ career, recently hinted at the possibility that James was involved in a profession that placed him in a different team.
“I would have said that four days ago, when LeBron opted for his contract, I would have said that there was no chance that he was exchanged. At the time, I simply did not think it,” said Windhorst last week on Espn Cleveland, according to Real GM.
“After having conversations in the last three or four days, I am no longer saying that there is no chance. I do not say that it is likely, but I can no longer say in a responsible manner that there is no chance.”
The Lakers acquired Luka Doncic via a shocking superproduction trade in February. But the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in April.
