Harris English will play in the open championship next week at the Royal Portrush, probably without his tournament sidekick.
Eric Larson’s Caddie, Eric Larson is currently stuck in the United States after being unable to obtain a new visa from the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) for the United Kingdom, a regulation that now applies to Americans.
Thirty years ago, Larson pleaded guilty of having sent cocaine to friends in the Midwest. Although he was not a user or a large dealer, he spent 10 years and three months in prison and was released from a transitional house in June 2006.

Larson said he did not realize that he needed the ETA visa until the United States opened, and when he completed the form, he was refused. The reasons for refusal include an applicant who was found guilty of a criminal offense in the United Kingdom or abroad for which he served 12 months or more in prison.
“I suppose that the United Kingdom does not strongly look at its past,” said English on Tuesday at the Renaissance Club before the Scottish Open. “And apparently, it’s a work in progress.”

The Englishman, who is n ° 19 in the world and 10th in the American classification of the Ryder Cup, said that he had not realized the fate of Larson before having finished fourth at the Travelers championship three weeks ago.
The Englishman said he had contacted Warren Stephens, the UK ambassador who put him in contact with his chief of staff.
“They wrote a letter. The R&C wrote a letter. The PGA Tour wrote a letter. A charity event for Eric works in the States (New Hope Operation) wrote a letter. It is not for a lack of effort,” added English. “I think it could be seated on someone’s desk somewhere.”

The Englishman was part of the Ryder Cup team in 2021 at Whistling Straits during a dismantling of the Europe team – they would take revenge two years later in Rome – and Larson was on the bag. This year’s event will take place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
