Islamabad:
A young man was swept away by his motorcycle in a seasonal stream in the Islamabad Koral region on Wednesday while heavy tears from the monsoon beat parts of the country and raised fears of sudden floods.
The young people, identified as Mohin, disappeared while trying to cross the overflowing draw. The rescue efforts were still in progress late in the evening while the waterways that neckline in Rawalpindi and other regions jumped.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has planned thunderstorms accompanied by rain in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast of Balutchistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Heavy to very strong precipitation is expected in isolated places. The department warned against other showers today (Thursday), which could trigger floods in local rivers and landslides in the hilly regions.
As a result, there is a risk of flash flooding in local streams and nullahs in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, DG Khan, Northeastern Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Parts of Balutchistan, including Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Sibi, Loralai, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Panjgur and Turbat.
The landslides triggered by intense precipitation can disrupt traffic at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murrier, Galliyat, Cashmire and GB.
Due to strong precipitation, the low areas in Islamabad / Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Siackot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar can face urban floods. Citizens are advised to remain cautious.
