Maulana Khan Zeb, a senior national party in Awami (ANP) and former candidate for the National Assembly of Bajaur, was tragically killed by unidentified attackers in Shindai Mor, a few steps from the headquarters of Khar Tehsil, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

The attack also won the life of his police security officer, SEPAHI Sher Zada, while three others were injured in the incident. The injured were identified as Dr. Tariq, Shahsawar and Osman, who are currently receiving medical treatments.

Sources indicate that Maulana Khan Zeb had campaigned for the next peace march, scheduled for July 13 in Bajaur, when the attackers opened fire on him. The armed men shot without discrimination, killing Maulana Khan Zeb and the policeman on the spot, while the other three were injured.

In response to the attack, the workers of the ANP and the local residents went down the streets, carrying the coffin of the martyr towards the khar bazaar to organize a demonstration. The funeral of Maulana Khan Zeb will take place on Friday July 11 at 11 a.m. in its native Nawagai zone.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the attack and work to identify those responsible for the tragic incident.
