On the occasion of World Population Day 2025, the First Lady Asefa Bhutto Zardari called for a renewed national commitment to the health, dignity and empowerment of each individual; Especially women, children and young people across the country.
World Population Day is observed around the world on Friday (today) under the theme of “the empowerment of young people to create the families they want in a just and hopeful world”.
“That day, we remember not only figures, but lives and stories behind them-mothers, children and families who form the heart of our nation,” she said in her message. “We must focus on the guarantee that each mother is healthy, each child is safe and that each family has the opportunity to prosper.”
Pakistan continues to deal with critical challenges in maternal health, child protection and young people. The First Lady highlighted the urgent need to invest in family planning, education, social protection and reproductive health services, the cornerstone of a strong and inclusive society.
“It is not just a question of development, it is a question of dignity, equity and justice. By prioritizing the well-being of our people, we ensure the future of our nation,” she said.
The theme of World Population Day of this year resonates deeply with Pakistan, where a majority of the population is under 30. She stressed the importance of creating opportunities for young people to lead a fulfilling life, without discrimination and equipped with tools to make informed choices.
“Our young people are not only our future, they are our presents. We must make sure they have access to quality education,” she said.
