We don’t even have a release date for VirginR Season 7 for the moment, but Netflix confirmed Virgin river Season 8 has already been green on. The news comes a week after the end of season 7, which officially makes it the longest series in the streaming service.
Although we do not expect the episodes of season 8 to arrive before 2026 at the earliest, season 7 should be released in December 2025. This means that we only have season 6 to speculate on where the show could go. The most recent season has left us five key cliffhangers to take us to future episodes, and we do not know how many of them will go to season 8.
However, the new early renewal of the successful Netflix program now makes one of the cliffhangers of season 6 much less likely to be true, and this is good news for anyone who was not a fan of the substitution scenario.
Mel and Jack may not become parents before season 8 of Virgin River
Season 6 finally saw Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) get married, and Mel later approached by the client Marley (Rachel Drance) with a proposal to be a substitution mother for the couple. Marley’s future parents withdrew from the adoption process at the last minute, with Marlely wanting Mel and Jack to have the baby. We have not yet seen Mel answer, but the news of season 8 means that the plot could be less likely to stay.
For what? We have two reasons. First, Netflix likes to drag the small town scenarios that we have desperately to see – not even a year did not happen in Virgin River during the six whole seasons that we saw on the screen. Second, the original book series tells us that Mel and Jack ended up having two organic children, and making a four -year -old family takes time.
Put our pessimistic hats and we could think that Marley’s proposal turns out to be nothing, or in the worst case, a total scam. However, this could very well be the case. The dramatic Tour of Time occurred in the last moments of season 6 episode 10, with absolutely nothing earlier in the series to indicate that there have been problems. The pending couple was too protective of Marley during his clinical sessions with Mel, so it could easily be a moment of panic that is resolved later.
In addition to that, we also want to see Mel win. She has fought against fertility problems since before her arrival in town, suffering from another miscarriage in season 5. Fans will want to see Mel and Jack having children on their own conditions (biologically or not) more than anything, and Netflix would be incredibly cruel not to deliver this.
As Virgin river The rapid approaches of season 7 (we hope), keep your eyes on the scenario of substitution maternity. My money is there, Virgin river Season 8 The moment of coronation of our romantic tracks by finally founding a family.
