Islamabad:

The National Committee for Judicial Policy (NJPMC) unanimously decided to resolve the issue of forced disappearances, establishing a special committee to formulate an institutional response in collaboration with the executive.

Predictive by the chief judge of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, the organization summoned his 53rd meeting to discuss the main court reforms on Friday.

The Committee has approved several initiatives to improve the justice system, including the creation of a “commercial dispute corridor” for a faster resolution of trade disputes and the introduction of “criminal first instance courts” to accelerate criminal cases.

He also approved the creation of a pilot system for another dispute resolution (ADR) and initiatives to normalize legal proceedings in all districts.

A major objective has also been placed on improving the inclusion of lawyers in the judicial process, including the development of a “professional excellence index”.

The Committee also discussed the ethical implications for the use of generative AI in court operations and has instructed the National Judicial Automation Committee to write a complete ethical framework.

In terms of legal infrastructure, the Committee congratulated initiatives such as the construction of bar and daycare rooms for women lawyers, as well as health insurance for judges and their families.

In addition, the Committee decided that constitutional tax and financial affairs would be processed by division benches before the high lessons instead of unique benches.
