Sweetening becomes sour for consumers

Islamabad:

The price of sugar in the country continues its ascending spiral, retail rates also reaching RS200 per kilogram in major cities, the latest data published by the PBS showed on Saturday.

In its newly issued weekly price statistics, the PBS indicated that the average national sugar price has climbed to Rs188.44 per kg, marking a weekly increase in RS3.52.

According to the Statistics Office, Sugar has now crossed the RS200 / kg brand in Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, making it the most expensive sweetener in recent months and household budgets by scoring additional already tense by inflation.
