The United Kingdom has officially introduced digital desvisas for Pakistani students and workers, marking an important step towards a modernized and rationalized immigration process.
From July 15, 2025, most of the main candidates apply for studies in the United Kingdom or work-related visas will no longer require a visa of physical stickers in their passports.
Instead, they will receive a digital file from their immigration status, known as Evisa.
An Evisa is an online confirmation of an individual’s permission to enter, stay or work in the United Kingdom. He also describes all the conditions attached to their immigration status.
This digital status is accessible and managed via an online British visa account and immigration (UKVI).
The change does not affect the immigration status of an individual or the conditions of his stay but represents a change in the way in which this information is stored and shared.
According to the British High Commissioner of Islamabad, the Evisa system aims to make the visa process more secure, efficient and user-friendly.
The British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE underlined the convenience of the new system, declaring that the transition to Evisas would simplify the process for Pakistani students and professionals. “These changes to the British visa system will make students and workers much simpler to prove their identity and their visa status. It also means that candidates can keep their passports, which saves them time, “she said.
Deployment applies to a wide range of visa categories. These include students – both for long -term and short -term studies up to 11 months – as well as people postulated under the global commercial mobility roads such as senior or specialized workers, graduate trainees and second role workers.
Other eligible categories include global talents, international athletes, skilled workers (including those in the health and care sector), various temporary work routes and candidates as part of the youth mobility program.
Evisa holders will be able to link their travel documents, such as passports, to their UKVI accounts to allow more fluid international trips.
Thanks to the “Vision and Prouvance” service, individuals can safely share their immigration status with employers, owners or other authorized entities, in particular in England.
However, not all Visa candidates will receive an Evisa at this stage. Those who apply as dependents or in the categories of visas not linked to work or study – as general visas of visitors – will always receive a visa of physical stickers.
Likewise, people who already have valid physical visa stickers do not need to take measures, because their existing documents remain valid.
This is part of a progressive approach to the United Kingdom of the Home Office to fully digitize its immigration system. The objective is to possibly replace all physical immigration documents with secure and accessible digital records.
The transition to Evisas is aligned with global immigration management trends and reflects the UK’s commitment to use technology to improve customer experience for visa candidates worldwide.
