MLB commissioner Rob Manfred upset the baseball purists, but statistics prove that his radical changes have worked.
Before the 2023 season, MLB implemented a pitch timer, widened bases and gap restrictions. As the average duration of games is down more than half an hour since its 3:11 peak in 2021, attendance has increased.
Attendance has increased in each of the last two years. It was the first time since 2011 and 2012 that attendance has increased during consecutive seasons.

The World Series (granted, two huge markets between Yankees and Dodgers) have had the most viewers since 2017. But MLB on the Fox viewer has increased by 10% compared to last year.
Manfred had its just part of dubious movements, in particular by leaving the Houston astros slide (on paper) for having stolen panels in 2017 and calling the World Series “a piece of metal”. He has also underestimated the first sports stop work since 1994, and another lockout has been looming after next season.
At the end of the day, however, the money of talks, and Manfred raked it for the League.
Because there are now more eyeballs on baseball, Alex Rodriguez said he was “a big fan of Rob Manfred”.

Currently, the attendance of 2025 is about to be lower than that of last year and the previous year, but it should be noted that the rest of summer must be played, and two teams play in minor league stages, harming their frequentation figures.
