- There may not be Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus, the S26 edge taking its place
- The screen sizes for the Galaxy S26 series have also disclosed
- The S26 could have a slightly larger screen than the S25, when there would be no real change for the other two models
It was an unusual year for Samsung phones because the company launched more premium models than normal. Recently, there was the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fe – which is the first time that we have seen a foldable “FE”, and before that, there was the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge – a thinner alternative to the rest of the S25 series.
Next year, other changes could arrive, but unlike this year, the company could reduce the selection of phones it makes.
According to a report on the South Korean site The Elec (via Phone Arena), there will be no Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus, with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge which took its place.
Although we were taking this with a pinch of salt, it is a credible statement, because the Galaxy S25 Edge is already similar in some respects to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus – it has the same screen size and the same chipset for example, just in a slim and less camera. There is therefore probably not much for both.
This would also allow the Samsung Galaxy S26 series more in accordance with what we expect from the iPhone 17 series, because Apple should launch an iPhone 17 air rather than an iPhone 17 Plus. There is a logic in Samsung Mirroring Apple like this, because it guarantees that there are Samsung alternatives to all Apple’s handsets.
Similar screen sizes
The same report also detailed the possible screen sizes for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, but the sizes listed are similar to the current models, the Samsung Galaxy S26 itself apparently having a 6.27 inch screen, the S26 Edge said it had a 6.66 inch, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with a 6.66 inch.
For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S25 has a 6.2 -inch screen, the Galaxy S25 EDGE has a 6.7 -inch 6.7 inch, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 6.9 -inch screen. In practice, if this leak is good, we expect Samsung to always market the S26 Plus screens and S26 as having respectively 6.7 -inch and 6.9 inch screens, the basic model being possibly rounded up to 6.3 inches.
Some people can be disappointed if the screen sizes do not increase much, but we will say that they are already at Sweet Spot – and if you want a larger display, there is always the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
But the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will probably not be launched before the beginning of 2026, so with a long time to wait, we will not be surprised either if some of these first rumors end up being mistaken.
