The name of Bruce Pearl was launched as a possible candidate to replace Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., In his siege of the United States Senate when the legislator announced his intention to present himself for the governor of Alabama.
Auburn Tigers’ male basketball coach even received the support of the basketball renowned temple Charles Barkley, despite the fervent support of Pearl to President Donald Trump.

Pearl approached the possibility on the “Scott Jennings Show”, wondering if he could have such an important impact on the world as the head coach of Auburn.
“Can I also have an impact as a basketball coach?” Said Pearl. “I graduated from children. I teach children. … I don’t know I have to be a senator in order (having an impact), there is so much about Washington which are so dysfunctional that I don’t even know that I could make a difference there.”
Auburn sports director John Cohen told Al.com that he expected Pearl to be the team’s coach for the 2025-26 season.

“I absolutely expect him to be the head coach of Auburn,” said Cohen. “But I also expect all the policies of zero go and, and you know, our new director organ is maintained. But things can change. We have seen it.”
Pearl, who is Jewish, expressed his fervent support for Israel in the face of the rise in anti-Semitism in the United States since the terrorist attacks on October 7 in Israel. He was a supporter of the way Trump also managed conflicts in the Middle East.
Pearl was also used to be the president of the US Israel Education Association.

Pearl is 246-125 as a head coach of the Tigers. He led Auburn to two appearances at the last four, including last season.
