Staff suspended for assault on Professor Ku Afaaq Ahmed

Karachi: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, commander of the sector suspended staff involved in misconduct with the professor of the University of Karachi, Dr. Affaaq Ahmed, said the university’s body on Thursday.

The declaration was published by the Karachi University Teachers’ Society (Kuts) following a session at the staff club today after a Rangers manager slapped an educator three days ago when he asked the latter not to burn garbage in front of his residence in the university staff colony.

Following the assault, the teacher’s glasses were broken and he suffered an eye injury.

One day, the teacher association demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident and called for an appropriate action against those responsible.

Dr. Ahmed detailed today’s session incident. The case was immediately brought to the attention of the Ku Vice-Chancellor, who assured that the question would be resolved quickly, according to the press release.

The KU VC and the president of Kuts visited the professor at his residence to express his solidarity.

The Kuts confirmed that the senior Rangers officials also met Dr. Ahmed and sentenced the incident.

The commander of the Rangers sector, who met the educator, ordered the suspension of the official official, initiating disciplinary procedures.

They expressed their regret and assured that strict measures would be taken against the personnel involved.

Dr. Ahmed has expressed his full satisfaction and confidence in the measures taken by the authorities so far, the Kuts said.
