- Garmin’s new update tackles ghost contact problems
- Forerunner 570 and Forersner 970 watches were affected
- Users always report bugs in the software
If you have a Garmin Forerunner 570 or Forerunner 970, keep your eyes open for version 6.18 of the software: the patch takes place now and solves the problems with ghost keys on recently launched clothes (where a press is saved on the screen even if it has not been affected).
The update has been spotted by Notebookcheck, and you can see the official update lists here and here. The modification journal indicates that the update “reduces the occurrence” of ghost keys rather than eradicating them – it therefore seems that the problem is not fully corrected.
Your watch should get the update automatically, but you can also run a manual verification, as long as your device is online: in the main menu, choose System> Software update> Check updates To see if it is available.
We do not know how many Forersner 570 and Forersner 970 watches were affected. We have not pointed out any problem in our Garmin Foreunner 570 exam, describing it as “a marvel of racing watch”.
It’s the life of a bug
However, although Ghost Touch’s problem can get closer to the resolution, it seems that the 6.18 software update has introduced several new bugs that users of the preclusion 570 and Forersner 970 are now trying to attract Garmin’s attention.
It seems that some users have problems with their watch gel just after entering the PIN code to unlock it. Another user says that scrolling does not work properly when you try to reach the screen screen.
There is also a garmin support wire on altimeter problems with the precursor 970: the wire was not started that a few days ago, but it is not immediately clear if these problems are linked to the 6.18 update which has just been deployed.
The best driving line if you have one of these smart watches is to keep them up to date with the latest version of the software, and if you feel bugs, consult the Garmin Assistance Forums – where it must also be said that many users have no problems with their devices or the new update.
